Biography

Vanessa Mumme completed a Masters in Science (A) in Occupational Therapy (OT) at McGill University in 2015. Since then, Vanessa has completed several post-graduate trainings and gained an informed perspective in the field of mental health with clinical experience in private practice, hospital and CLSC settings. Vanessa aims to facilitate clients to overcome psychosocial barriers and optimize functional capacity in daily life drawing from her education, trainings, work and life experience, collaboration with her team and other stakeholders and most importantly from clients themselves-listening to what is most meaningful to them in their narratives. Occupational Therapy promotes health, well-being and quality of life by supporting access to participation in the things that clients want and need to do in their daily life. Through ongoing assessment and intervention, Occupational Therapists aim to optimize clients’ capacities (physical, cognitive, emotional and spiritual capacities) and take into consideration their occupations (self-care, work, leisure) and environments (physical, social, cultural, institutional). In parallel with this OT lens, Vanessa integrates knowledge and tools from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance commitment therapy (ACT) and dance movement therapy (DMT) to provide a well-rounded toolbox to clients. At the moment, Vanessa offers her service exclusively through virtual care in both English and French.
